The Netroglycerine Bookstore

The Microsoft Windows NT Resource Kit is exactly what you need if you are dealing with the NT registry, want to know what some error message means, or you need to set up a network or TCP/IP connection.

I own the NT 3.5 version, which is a little out of date, so I am including here the Version 4.0 editions, although I can't comment on any differences since I don't own them.

The 3.5 version is 3 volumes, each with a CD. The first volume covers the NT architecture, setting up NT, FAT and NTFS file systems, printers, fonts, mail, schedule+, a huge section on the registry, and another huge section on setting up networking. After that is a section on compatibility with OS/2 and Posix, followed by a troubleshooting section and appendices on the resource directory and Remote Access Server Administration.

The second volume is a complete description of every message that NT can give, with a paragraph or two describing what each message really means.

The third volume is all about optimizing NT to make it as fast as it can be for your particular application.
